Taina Teräs is participating in the Kivo Kempentrail 2019 with a special cart

The international sled dog competition Kivo Kempentrail is preparing for the arrival of a very special participant. Swedish Taina Teräs will come to the Brabant forests at the end of October. The former world champion suffered a spinal cord injury from a sledge fall in the 1990s and ended up in a wheelchair. A special cart has been developed for Taina with which she will appear at the start in the open class (with 10 dogs).

Teräs started with Siberian huskies in the 1980s. Later the born Finnish switched to a mixed breed. She was very successful in the class where 8 dogs are raced for the sled. Teräs became both European and world champion.

"She is an inspiring woman who can count herself as one of the best mushers in the world, even though she is disabled." She is an example for everyone and an example of unyielding, perseverance and resilience.

In addition to her participation in the competition, Taina will give a presentation on Saturday evening for the mushers about her life and how she experiences and practices the sport. Of course she is available all weekend to ask questions about the sport, dogs (she has worked with almost all breeds) and training.
